The Fiat C.R.32, also known as "Caccia Rosatelli" after its designer, was a biplane fighter aircraft.
It saw extensive action during the Spanish Civil War, where it was used by the Aviazione Legionaria in support of nationalist forces, quickly earning a reputation as one of the best biplane fighters of its time.
Beyond its service in the Regia Aeronautica during the early years of World War II, the C.R.32 was also adopted by various foreign air forces, including those of China, Hungary, Austria, Venezuela, and Paraguay.
In Spain, it was even produced under license and remained in service until 1953, a full 20 years after its maiden flight.
From a technical perspective, the C.R.32 was a compact, robust, and highly maneuverable aircraft, qualities that also made it famous in aerobatic performances across Europe.
Although not the fastest in its class, it compensated with excellent structural durability and powerful armament for its time: two Breda-SAFAT 12.7 mm machine guns, synchronized to fire through the propeller arc.
Even today, the Fiat C.R.32 is regarded as one of the most iconic Italian fighter aircraft of the interwar period. A preserved example is on display at the MUSAM Museum in Vigna di Valle (Rome).
