FIAT 508 "Balilla"
FIAT 508 "Balilla"
The FIAT 508 “Balilla” by Italianminifig is a scale reproduction - mountable and made up of original Lego pieces - of the car produced by the Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino between 1932 and 1937. Entirely built in the Lingotto factory in Turin, the 508 is the first economy car - in terms of price, consumption and size - made by FIAT.
The sales package includes:
- A bag containing the FIAT 508 “Balilla” assembling pieces (181 pieces, 4 are printed).
- A certificate attesting the authenticity of the FIAT 508 “Balilla”, as an Italianminifig product, and its belonging to a limited edition.
- Assembly instructions.
Officially launched at the 1932 Milan Motor Show, the FIAT 508 is equipped with a 3-speed gearbox, 4-cylinder engine, water cooling and a displacement of 995 cubic centimetres. The maximum speed reached by the small car is 85 km/h, a truly remarkable result for the time.
Available on the national market at a price of 10,800 Italian Lire, the 508 is produced in sedan, spider, torpedo and military versions. The Balilla is also a great success abroad: under the "NSU" brand it’s marketed in Germany, under the "Walter" brand it’s sold in England, Spain, France and Czechoslovakia.
(This product isn’t a toy: it’s not suitable for children under the age of 14, due to the small parts that constitute it. It’s a collector's item of historical interest. Each Italianminifig item doesn’t intend to celebrate any authoritarian regime, not intends to foment hatred or a repressive spirit towards freedom and human rights).
