Lagunare - "Serenissima"

The Lagunare minifigure by Italianminifig is the reproduction of a modern soldier of the Italian Army amphibious assault infantry: it’s sold accompanied by the green beret typical of the Lagunari specialty and the inflatable life jacket to be worn around the neck as a buoyancy support.

Established in 1951, the “Serenissima” Lagunari Regiment is the latest Italian Infantry specialty. The men of the Serenissima are trained to fight on the mainland and during amphibious operations in marine, river and lagoon environments.

The regimental banners are those inherited from the "Fanti da mar" of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, whose memory the Lagunari today cherish, embodying their spirit and temperament.

The war flag displays the decorations: a gold and a silver medal of military valor, a silver cross of military merit. The battle cry is “San Marco!”.

"Like the rock I break, like the wave I swamp" is the motto of the unit which summarizes the duplicity of the operational context of the Serenissima.
