SPA CL 39

The Italianminifig SPA CL 39 is a scale reproduction – mountable and made of original Lego pieces – of the light truck put into production in 1939 by the Società Piemontese Automobili.

The sales package includes:

- A small bag containing the SPA CL 39 assembling pieces (195 pcs., 1 is printed).

- A certificate attesting the authenticity of the SPA CL 39 as an Italianminifig product, and that it belongs to a limited edition.

- The assembly instructions.

“CL39” stands for “Carro Leggero 1939”. SPA is the acronym of the company that produced this truck: Società Piemontese Automobili. SPA was purchased by FIAT, therefore the CL 39 is also known by the name FIAT – SPA CL 39. It was a light infantry truck used by the Royal Army and the Royal Air Force as a replacement for carts pulled by animals or mules.

The cabin was open and had two seats: if necessary, a canvas cover could be pulled. Driving was on the right. The engine was a four-cylinder petrol engine, with a displacement of 1628 cubic centimetres and a power of 25 horsepower. The gearbox had 4 gears plus reverse and the traction was rear. The truck, which entered service in 1939, was used regularly until the end of the Second World War.
